Oakland Thunderstorm

One of the things I do to try to keep a fresh eye in my work is to photograph a variety of unusual subjects.
The weather is something I'm particularly interested in, the sky being unique every moment of every day.

This image was taken from the safety of my front door at home in Oakland (I would never advise anyone to stand in the open during a thunderstorm!).
The way the lightning defines the shapes of the clouds as well as the amazing shapes, twists and turns of the bolts themselves is simply beautiful to behold.
